Yes Man!!!

So it's been a while since I've really written anything so I'll be surprised if anyone still reads this.  My own mom admitted that she only looks at it when the link from my brother and sister in-law's blog reminds her that I'm out on this internet cloud thingy too.  But anyway, I'll start writing again.  School starts in a week so it will give me something to procrastinate with.

So let me tell you about Yes Man!!!  There's a movie that came out not too long ago about a guy who was stuck in a rut in life and was convinced to say "Yes" to every opportunity that came his way.  As a result his life changed dramatically for the better. (Here's the trailer if you want to see).  This movie popped into my head the other night as I was thinking about how life can be a bit boring sometimes and I decided to give it a go, in moderation of course.  So here's my Yes Man story.

I'm in Seattle right now to visit my brother and sister in law and to mountain bike.  Last night we went to dinner near the Fremont Bridge which is famous for the troll that lives under it.  I'm serious, there really is a troll.  But it's made of concrete and is a city tourist spot.

We decided to go take a look after dinner cause it's not everyday that you get to see a troll.  While we were there a group of boys about 12 years old showed up and started playing around on it.  A few minutes later they came over to us and asked us the first thing that you would expect any group of 12 year olds to ask.  "Wanna have a karate fight?"  Why wouldn't they ask that and why wouldn't anyone want to?  They told us that they were doing a video scavenger hunt and one of the items was to have a karate fight with a stranger. Well I finally agreed to fight 3 of them (There were more than 3 but I already felt that this might not be a fair fight).  Since this was going to be on video I wanted it to look good so I told them that I would jump down from the trolls fingers above the crushed VW Bug and fight them.  I climbed up and then doing my best karate yell I jumped down in my best karate pose which looked something like this, but better.

Well I never thought that knocking out 3 kids would be so easy.  They didn't know that I took 3 days of karate class when I was 5 and had been waiting 21 years for this chance to show my skills.

Ok, so I didn't really hit any kids.  But I really did do a karate jump, land in the middle of them and start fake fighting.  I even pretended to get knocked on my back so they'd win (even though it wasn't a fair fight).  When I got up all the other bystanders who were to chicken to fight clapped and told me that I was the best fake fighter they'd ever seen, but they were pretty sure I'd die in a real fight.  The kids came up to me after and asked for my autograph (That was the word they used) so I thought that they were so impressed with me they really wanted my autograph.  Turns out they just needed it for the scavenger hunt.  As we started walking back to the car I realized that when I jumped off the troll I landed weird and kind of messed up my foot pretty badly.  But wouldn't you LOVE to tell this story whenever someone asked you how you broke your foot?  And that's why I'm going to be saying yes a whole lot more.
