The Pet Peeves (contd)

Softball players. Now let me explain this a little bit. Right now I play on a rec softball team on Wednesday nights. Simply put, I suck. No way around it. I can usually get on base a few times a night but that's only because I'm still fast. I got a grounder the other night when I was playing in field and threw the guy out and I thought I was the coolest guy on the field (for a moment there I actually was). Now you're asking "If you're a super cool softball player, even though you suck, why do softball players bug you?". The best answer I can give is to go to a park where they have multiple league softball games going on and see for yourself. But, I am going to try to explain myself. First of all, there are the people that argue every close call. The feel the need to talk back to the ref as well as talking smack to the other team. "Hey batter, lets see a big hit huh?!" " (This is a thought)Umm, its a bright fluorescent yellow ball going 12.8mph, maybe I can hit it". Once again let me remind you that this is rec league softball, there's one ump and he's not going to see everything. Once I pitched the ball flat instead of a big lobbed under hand and the other team started yelling at me that the game wasn't fast pitch. I guess my 19mph scorcher was a little much for them. Some of these people look like they never left their highschool baseball or softball team. The guys have new cleats, new $300 bats, take 3 minutes to get ready to bat. The girls either have the poofy pony tail coming out the back of their visor while wearing mens t shirts and shorts. Either that or short, butch hair which makes it hard for me to tell if they're a man or a woman. I've made that mistake before (though not to their face). They're super intense about it though. So go on down to your local softball park one of these nights and take a look.
